SSC combined graduate level examinations is being one of the most competitive and popular graduate level examination conducted by Staff Selection Commission of India. Tier 1 is objective type examination conducted online. The paper contains 4 sections and total mark allocated is 200.There are 100 questions in the paper and each question carries 2 marks. There is a negative marking of 0.5 mark for each wrong answer. Mark Obtain in this paper will be added in preparation of final merit list.

Tier 2 will have two exam papers of 200 marks containing 100 questions in each paper. Each question will carries 2 marks each. The two papers are Quantitative Aptitude Paper and English language and comprehension paper. The mark obtained in this paper will be added in the selection 


Tier 3 is Descriptive type paper conducted offline. This is a pen and paper based examination. Exam paper is of 100 marks and time allocated for this paper 1 hour. The exam paper contains Essay writing, letter writing/application writing or report writing.

Tier 4 is computer proficiency test of the candidate. The different post will have different type of Computer proficiency test. The main aim of the test is to check the candidates required computer knowledge or skill for the post.

Time Table for SSC CGL Preparation in 1 Year

One year is very perfect time span to make a proper preparation strategy and effective time table to crack SSC CGL exam with self-home based preparation and to crack the ssc exm. To do this firstly do pre requirement of the examination as mentioned above and plan your time as mention below.

Since the complete exam process includes four tiers and thus candidates need to prepare the examination in proper way for all the tiers. Each tier requires its own type of preparation. Since the candidate will not be allowed to seat in tier 2 examinations if the candidate is not qualified in tier 1. Thus candidates 1st aim is to clear Tier 1 examination. Again Tier 1 and Tier 2 contains some portion common like quantitative aptitude and English Language thus one need to give more emphasis or focus on those sections during examination

Tier 1: Single Objective Paper with four sections which candidates need to solve in 75 minute containing 100 questions in different sections as follows


  • Quantitative aptitude: 25 questions
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: 25 questions
  • General awareness: 25 questions
  • English & Comprehension: 25 Questions


Tier 2: Two objective papers off 200 mark each and to solve each paper candidate is provided 2 hours.


  • Quantitative Aptitude: 100 questions
  • General English and Comprehension: 100 Questions

Since the examination is three tier and among those first 2 tiers are have overlapped subjects and topics so the time table is mainly focus to clear tier 1 and tier 2 examination. Since tier 3 exams is subjective type paper so a comprehensive study for subjective type paper preparation is included in the preparation time table.
