SSC Stenographer Examination is the one of the popular recruitment
examination that is conducted by staff selection commission of India. The
Examination is conducted every year to fulfill two different graded stenographers
namely Stenographer C and Stenographer Grade D. It is the general confusion of
most of the candidates that what is the difference between stenographer grade c
& grade D? Though the written examination conducted for both the grades is
same there is a huge difference between stenographer grade c and Grade D. The main
differences between both the grades of stenographers are
- Pay Scale Difference: The pay scale for Stenographer grade c is Pay Band 2 i.e. pay in the range of Rs. 9300-34800/- with grade pay Rs. 4200/- but the Pay scale for Grade D stenographers is Pay Band 1 i.e. The pay is in range of Rs.5200-20200/- with grade pay Rs. 2400/-. (This pay scales are as per six pay commission and likely to be revised in 7th pay Commission)
- Skill Test Difference: Another difference between Stenographer grade C and Grade D is skill test which is difference for grade c and grade d. For Grade C the dictation speed for is 100 words per minute transcription typing speed is 25 words per minute in English and 19 words per minute in Hindi whereas the dictation speed for grade d posts in skill test is 80 words per minute and transcription typing speed required is 16 word per minute in English and 14 words per minute for Hindi.
- Status Difference: Yes, the status and power after the appointment of both the grade cadre will have difference. Stenographer grade C employee will be offered higher status and departmental power then the Grade D employee. This is due to the Pay scale difference.
